CATEGORIES AND CRITERIA
categories
The iValues awards are presented in five categories:
Quality of Life
This category targets projects related to innovation in the fields of health, environment, urbanization, communications, education, security, social, tourism and leisure.
Economy and Jobs
This category targets projects related to innovation in the fields of economic development, economic empowerment for refugees and local communities, market structures, trade, investment, job creation, fighting unemployment, New Work, open data and business.
Democracy and Community
This category targets projects related to innovation in the fields of good governance, elections, political participation, policy development process, and rule of law.
Regional development
This category targets projects related to innovation in the fields of local governments support, decentralization, digital transformation and e-governance, community engagement and sustainable development.
Human rights
This category targets projects related to innovation in the fields of freedom of expression and movement, minority rights, women rights and affairs, freedom from violence and torture, and right to equality before the Law.
criteria
The jury will evaluate all participating projects according to these three criteria:
INNOVATION
To be considered for an award, a project must show, first and foremost, an innovative character, breaking new ground while meeting a challenge in its sphere of influence (municipality, region, country).
The innovation need not be a “world first”. What counts, is a new approach in the country or region where the project was realised in recent years, and skillful adaptation to the local culture and needs.
PARTICIPATION
Projects score additional points, if they motivate citizens to participate in an extensive or special way, if they bring people together from different parts of society or with different political views, and even more so, if they strengthen trust in democratic processes and institutions.
SUSTAINABILITY
Projects score additional points if they create lasting improvements in the lives of all those affected, and produce high output in relation to the financial input.
